Soya extracts standardized for isoflavones are considered a major advance in the prevention of cancer, osteoporosis and other diseases associated with ageing. Numerous scientific studies show that daily consumption of significant amounts of soya:
Prevents many different types of cancer (including breast, endometrium and prostate): in Japan, where consumption of phyto-oestrogens is between 20 and 50 mg a day, there is a five to eight-fold reduction in the risk of breast cancer, and a ten-fold reduction in that of prostate cancer".
Prevents gallstones
Protects renal function
Reduces incidence of osteoporosis and increases bone density in certain vertebra
Lowers total cholesterol and inhibits the development of atherosclerosis (the American FDA has authorized the claim “25 g of soya protein a day, as part of a diet low in saturated fat and cholesterol, may lower the risk of heart disease”.)
Relieves pre- and post-menopausal symptoms, particularly hot flushes, due to compounds that mimic oestrogen.
To obtain these benefits, you need to consume around 50-100mg a day of the main soya isoflavones, in particular, genistein (the most active and best-assimilated isoflavone) and daidzein.
Two vegetarian capsules (270 mg) provide over 40% (at least 110 mg) phyto-oestrogens including at least 20% genistein, at least 10% daidzein and around 10% other isoflavones. Soy isoflavones are extracted from guaranteed non-genetically modified soya.
For general preventive purposes, or to relieve post-menopausal symptoms, take one vegicap twice a day.
