Perilla oil, extracted from Perilla frutescens seeds, is particularly rich in alpha-linolenic acid, the most important of the Omega-3 essential fatty acids. Studies show that alpha-linolenic acid can help prevent cardiac disease, stroke and arthritis, and that perilla oil could help reduce the risk of colon and breast cancer, as well as colitis, obesity and asthma.

- one animal study suggests that perilla oil may be a preventive agent in the early stages of colon carcinogenesis. Other animal studies suggest it could lower colon cancer risk;
- the Mediterranean diet, rich in alpha-linolenic acid, is associated with a reduced risk of coronary artery disease, heart attack and stroke ;
- one animal study suggests that perilla oil may reduce colon lesions observed in colitis and that it is more effective than EPA or DHA ;
- researchers comparing breast tissue samples of women suffering from breast cancer, to those with benign breast disease found that higher concentrations of alpha-linolenic acid were associated with a reduced risk of cancer ;
- in laboratory rats, a comparison of the effects of perilla oil, tournesol oil, olive oil and beef fat showed that perilla oil prevented excessive growth of fatty tissue ;
- in asthma sufferers, perilla oil suppresses certain biochemicals associated with the disease and appears to be beneficial in treating it.

Take three softgels a day.
Do not take fibre supplements at the same time. If you are taking anticoagulants or anti-platelet aggregation medication, consult your therapist before taking Perilla Oil.
