Migr-Ease contains extracts of feverfew and butterbur, combined with caffeine. Together, they have a synergistic and complementary action which helps reduce the frequency, duration and pain of migraine attacks.
¤ Feverfew-based(Tanacetum parthenium) preparations have long been used to prevent and relieve headaches. Several clinical studies have shown that feverfew extract reduces the frequency of migraine attacks as well as the severity of associated symptoms. Feverfew works in particular by inhibiting the release of serotonin by platelets in blood vessels.
¤ Petasites hybridus (butterbur) contains two sesquiterpenes – petasin and isopetasin both of which have a regulatory effect on the production of cells involved in inflammatory response. Several studies show that butterbur extract can help halve the frequency of migraine attacks.
¤ Guarana is traditionally used by South American Indians, particularly to relieve headaches. Guarana is rich in caffeine which can help relieve migraine by blocking the action of adenosine. Adenosine is responsible for the peripheral pain and vascular dilation present in migraine.
