Neurex™ contains ingredients which act synergistically to prevent and slow down the development of cerebral degeneration. In particular, research has shown that :

¤ N-acetyl-L-carnitine arginate, a compound which is very similar to acetyl-L-carnitine, readily crosses the blood-brain barrier and has strongly protective effects on nerve tissue and the central nervous system. In addition, it has been shown to stimulate growth of new axons by 19.5% ;
¤ Ginkgo biloba protects neurons from damaging free radicals and the beta-amyloid plaques characteristic of Alzheimer's disease. It improved the clinical condition of patients showing early signs of Alzheimer's;
¤ Gotu kola increases nerve transmission and protects nerve cells from the destructive effects of free radicals and beta-amyloid plaques ;
¤ Curcuma longa (95 % curcumin) . Curcumin protects cerebral cells through its powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. It also increases the capacity of macrophages to eliminate beta-amyloid, suggesting it may offer protection against the development of Alzheimer's disease. Bioperine boosts the bioavailability and efficacy of curcumin ;
¤ Bacopa monnieri extract (20 % baccosides) increases antioxidant activity in every area of the brain. It inhibits the DNA damage caused by toxic levels of nitric oxide which is involved in the development of neurodegenerative diseases. Bacopa monnieri boosts nerve impulses in the brain and helps repair damaged neurons. It also inhibits the activity of acetylcholinersterase, thus protecting acetylcholine levels ;
¤ Glycerophosphocholine (GPC) protects and boosts nerve signalling by stimulating the growth, repair and expression of nerve growth factor receptors in the cerebellar cortex. In Alzheimer's patitents, GPC improves cognition and is well-tolerated ;
¤ Huperzia serrata (0.2 % huperzine A). Huperzine A encourages the growth of nerve cells and inhibits degradation of acetyl-choline by blocking the action of the enzyme acetyl-cholinesterase. ¤ Rosemary extract contains rosmarinic acid which has been shown to have a protective effect on the cerebral cells of animals exposed to the toxic effects of beta-amyloid. Rosmarinic acid reduces the formation of reactive oxygen species and tau protein phosphorylation. It inhibits beta-amyloid fibril formation and dissolves existing fibrils ; Idebenone, a CoQ10 analogue, produced improvements in the condition of patients with mild to moderate Alzheimer's disease. Idebenone stimulates production of nerve growth factor and counteracts the toxic effects of beta-amyloid ;
¤ Ferulic acid has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties which protect nerve cells. Ferulic acid counteracts the toxic effects of beta-amyloid on neuronal cells ; Myricetin is a flavonoid with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties which is believed to inhibit the accumulation of beta-amyloid ;
¤ Uridine monophosphate stimulates growth of axons, stabilizes cell membranes of nerve cells and increases production of acetylcholine ; Methylcobalamin, the methylated form of vitamin B12, is essential for the formation of the nerve-protecting myelin sheath.
