Loss of sexual desire affects one in four women but despite such prevalence, few approved natural treatments have so far been available for addressing a decline in female libido.
Women’s Lib is a new plant extract offering a natural way of restoring female sexual desire and vitality. From the Fabaceae family, fenugreek (Trigonella foenum graecum) is traditionally used for its anti-anorexic and anti-diabetic effects and as a sex tonic for men. It contains over 100 phytochemical ingredients including saponins such as furostanol.
This new extract of fenugreek seed is standardised to 50% saponin glycosides (Fenusides™), phyto-steroidal compounds that naturally boost female sexual fulfilment. It increases levels of oestradiol to stimulate sexual desire and vitality
Female sexual desire is partly influenced by two hormones: oestradiol and testosterone. However, almost all testosterone and the majority of oestradiol in the blood are bound to Sex Hormone Binding Globulin or SHBG, rendering them inactive. Therefore, only a small percentage of these hormones is free, and it is the free fractions which are truly active.
Oestradiol is a hormone which plays a major and well-established role in problems of female sexual function. With a chemical structure very similar to that of testosterone, it attaches itself to the same SHBG sites as testosterone, via a comparable mechanism of action, suggesting it has a specific role in stimulating female libido. Low levels of oestradiol and testosterone are thus linked to a decrease in lubrication and sexual desire.
In a double-blind, placebo-controlled study on 80 healthy Australian women aged between 21 and 49, in stable relationships but experiencing low sexual desire, taking this specific standardised fenugreek extract significantly increased their levels of oestradiol (+64%), free testosterone (within female physiological limits), and at the same time lowered their SHBG levels.
Professor Luis Vitetta of Queensland University, who led this research, reported outstanding results in women of menstruating age, demonstrating that taking this standardised fenugreek extract significantly boosts five markers of female sexual function:
• it improves the ‘imaginative’ aspect of sexuality;
• it increases sexual desire and arousal;
• it allows greater control of sexual drive/relations ;
• it encourages uninhibited relations with a partner;
• it produces a more intense or better controlled orgasm.
In addition, women taking this supplement saw the frequency of their sexual activity increase from once or twice a month to an average of once a week.
The ability of this extract to displace a small fraction of bound testosterone leading to an improvement in sexual activity had already been demonstrated in earlier studies on men. This new study shows similar effects from specific fenugreek saponins on female sexuality.
100% natural and free from side-effects, Women’s Lib can reignite female sexual desire, taken at a dose of 300mg morning and night for one to two months.
