Vitamin E is a fat-soluble vitamin and an essential antioxidant which protects the body's lipids, including cell membranes and cholesterol, from oxidation. Free radical-induced oxidative damage is associated with premature ageing, cancer, atherosclerosis, cataracts and many other degenerative diseases. Natural-source vitamin E (d-alpha tocopherol) is at least 50% more biologically effective than synthetic vitamin E, and remains in the body's tissues for longer.
