All bank transactions are processed by the Luxembourg national organisation Cetrel.

Within the framework of card payment systems, Cetrel is the technical agent for the licence companies Europay Luxembourg and Visalux, the post office corporation, the bancomat grouping and the issuers of miniCASH smart payment cards.
As far as issuing activities are concerned, Cetrel manages all the cash and administrative transactions of Luxembourg holders affiliated to the Europay and Visalux licence companies and to the post office corporation.
Cetrel ensures that the equipment needed for the acquisition of transactions performed by national or international card holders is made available to Luxembourg retailers.
Cetrel also manages transactions by Luxembourg cardholders abroad and those effected by foreign cardholders on its terminal network via its links with the clearing system and international payment systems. These activities are supplemented by accounting functions for the licence companies and for the financial flows between them, CETREL and the banks and the international payment systems." |
