Bacillus coagulans spores: reported risks?

To date,no adverse side effects have been reported in the scientific literature following supplementation with B. coagulans. Studies confirm it is very well-tolerated and has no mutagenic or genotoxic characteristics (12).

What is irritable bowel syndrome?

Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a benign but debilitating condition of the digestive system thought to affect 10%-15% of the global population. It is characterised by chronic stomach aches and abdominal cramps, impaired intestinal transit and bloating.

A number of theories have been suggested to explain this digestive dysfunction, including problematic intestinal motility and visceral hypersensitivity. However, disruption to microbiota balance, which would make the intestinal barrier more permeable to pro-inflammatory molecules, seems an increasingly plausible explanation (13).

Which supplements should you take alongside your asafoetida resin extract?

To support your digestive system, it’s also worth considering the following supplements in addition to Ferula Asafoetida:

Which other supplements can be combined with B. coagulans ?

When supplementing with probiotics, taking prebiotic fibre helps ‘friendly’ strains become established in the intestinal tract and maximises their chances of survival. So consider combining Bacillus coagulans with inulin or Fructo-Oligosaccharides, extracted from sugar beet using a bioconversion process. (14).

If you experience heaviness after a meal, combine B. coagulans with Digestive Enzymes, a unique complex containing 15 key digestive enzymes (lactase, proteases, amylase...) as well as specific plants associated with maintaining good digestive health (peppermint, fenugreek, ginger, aniseed...) (15-16)

What are the capsules in this product made of?

This product’s capsules are composed of HPMC (hydroxypropyl methylcellulose), a plant substance derived from cellulose. HPMC is widely used for medicines and dietary supplements. It contains no animal ingredients, is recognised as safe by health authorities and is considered more sustainable than synthetic alternatives.

How should Ferula Asafoetida natural extract be taken?

We recommend taking 2 capsules a day, ie, 500mg of Asafin®. Clinical studies have used this same dose (2x250 mg a day).

Please note that this supplement is not recommended for people who are allergic or sensitive to plants from the umbelliferous family.

7 simple steps to support your gut health

As well as taking this supplement for your digestive problems, we’d also recommend adopting these 7 measures:

  1. eat slowly and calmly, chewing your food thoroughly, and drinking in between meals;
  2. avoid over-rich food;
  3. don’t lie down after a meal;
  4. take regular, moderate exercise to maintain optimal digestive transit;
  5. minimise alcohol consumption and smoking;
  6. limit your intake of fizzy drinks, coffee and heavily-spiced or acidic foods;
  7. and if symptoms persist, consider keeping a food journal to identify any potential triggers.
How should Bacillus Coagulans Probiotic be taken?

We recommend taking 2 capsules a day (equivalent to 4 billion microorganisms) with a large glass of water. In general, it is best to take probiotics in the 30 minutes preceding a meal or with a light meal or snack.

Important: we strongly recommend keeping this probiotic refrigerated.

To optimise the effects of this supplement on your gut health, it’s also worth considering:

  1. increasing your intake of soluble fibre (oats, barley, rye...) ;
  2. staying well-hydrated
  3. reducing your consumption of alcohol, spices and fermentable foods (FODMAPs) ;
  4. chewing your food for longer;
  5. reducing your stress levels.
What are the capsules in this product made of?

This product’s capsules are made of pullulan, a natural polysaccharide obtained by fermenting tapioca or corn. Pullulan contains no animal ingredients and provides an excellent barrier to oxygen, helping to preserve the integrity of the capsule’s ingredients. It is also an eco-friendly alternative to synthetic materials.
