Menopause Support is a natural menopause supplement.
It brings together the best natural compounds (in particular, black cohosh, or Actaea racemosa to give it its scientific name) for reducing the impact of menopause symptoms. It is also free from synthetic hormones and soy isoflavones.
This supplement is part of our menopause product category.
Composition and benefits of this menopause supplement
Natural formulation for relief from menopause symptoms
Menopause Support has been developed to help women suffer less discomfort during the menopause, the stage in a woman’s life marking the end of ovulation and periods, which normally occurs between the ages of 45 and 55.
Its ingredients have been carefully selected to reduce unwelcome menopause symptoms: hot flushes, irritability, fatigue, sleep problems, etc.
These symptoms are mainly the result of hormonal changes that occur at this time, especially the reduction in the body’s production of oestrogen and progesterone.
What ingredients are in this special menopause supplement and what benefits does it offer?
This supplement combines 5 natural, synergistic compounds:
- an extract of black cohosh rhizome: black cohosh (also known as Actaea racemosa and Cimicifuga) is a perennial plant from North America long-used by Native Americans. It is recognised by the WHO and European Medicines Agency for reducing the impact of hot flushes, sweating, mood swings and other symptoms of the menopause. It appears to work by modifying serotonin pathways and/or exerting antioxidant or anti-inflammatory effects (1-5);
FenuSmart®: FenuSmart® is an extract of fenugreek, a spice used for thousands of years in cooking and traditional medicine. Several randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical studies investigating the potential of FenuSmart® to alleviate symptoms of menopause have produced particularly encouraging results (decreases in vasomotor symptoms such as hot flushes and night sweats, improvements in mood in perimenopausal women, reductions in muscle and joint discomfort in the legs and in vaginal dryness in post-menopausal women, etc.) (6-8). One study also looked at the extract’s potential to reduce female sexual problems in general (9). Fenugreek’s effects are thought to be due primarily to its saponins, bioactive compounds with effects similar to those of oestrogen. The extract’s safety has also been established (10);
Results of a randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled study on the effects of 250 mg of FenuSmart® (taken twice daily for 42 days) on menopausal women (6).
- vitamin B6: this vitamin helps to regulate hormonal activity. It is essential for the enzymatic reactions that enable neurotransmitters such as serotonin and dopamine to be produced (crucial for improving mood), production which is usually impaired by menopause-induced hormone fluctuations. Maintaining good levels of serotonin and dopamine is important for preventing or reducing the depression, anxiety and irritability often associated with the menopause (11);
- vitamin D3: this vitamin helps to maintain healthy bones by facilitating intestinal absorption of calcium and phosphorus, essential for bone mineralisation. A good intake of vitamin D3 is important for mitigating the loss of bone density which occurs with the menopause (12);
- magnesium: this mineral helps maintain good psychological function by promoting production of serotonin and reducing that of cortisol (the stress hormone). It also supports normal nervous system function by helping to stabilise neuronal membranes and supporting muscle relaxation, which prevents nervous tension and encourages sleep. In addition, magnesium helps reduce menopause-related fatigue, by contributing to the production of cellular energy (13).
The 7 strengths of this Actaea racemosa (Cimicifuga) supplement
Our special menopause supplement stands out from rival products in 7 key aspects:
- it contains no added synthetic hormones for a natural approach;
- it is also soy-free to avoid any risk of allergy, drug interactions or potential adverse effects related to the high levels of isoflavones (a type of phytoestrogen) in soy;
- its plant extracts are standardised in active ingredients to bring you the best of these plants: the black cohosh extract is standardised to 2.5% triterpene glycosides, and the fenugreek extract to 30% saponins and 3% trigonelline;
- it contains nutrients in their most bioavailable forms, such as magnesium bisglycinate, magnesium bound to two molecules of glycine (an amino acid easily absorbed by the body), for optimal absorption in the gut. There is also pyridoxal-5-phosphate (P5P), the active form of vitamin B6, directly usable by the body;
- its various ingredients are present at powerful but safe doses, for guaranteed, risk-free efficacy;
- it contains a patented ingredient clinically-tested multiple times with excellent results (FenuSmart®);
- it comes in the form of 100% vegetarian capsules and contains only one excipient, the natural compound acacia gum.
