Methylene Blue is a 1% methylene blue solution.
It is certified USP pharmaceutical grade, recognised for its laboratory-tested purity and packaged in a bottle with a dropper for easy administration.
What is methylene blue? What is it used for?
Definition of methylene blue
Methylene blue (whose full name is methylthioninium chloride) is a basic, cationic synthetic organic dye derived from phenothiazine.
It takes the form of a dark blue crystalline powder which dissolves in water to give a bright blue solution.
What is methylene blue used for?
Methylene blue is used in the laboratory to stain and highlight cell structures.
It is also the subject of numerous studies in the field of longevity, focusing in particular on its potential benefits for:
-
mitochondrial health: it is thought to act as an alternative electron carrier in the respiratory chain, boosting the efficiency of mitochondria (the cells' energy power plants), reducing energy loss and increasing the production of ATP, the main source of cellular energy (1-3);
-
combating oxidative stress: it limits the electron leakage responsible for the formation of free radicals, thereby reducing oxidative damage and protecting the integrity of cells (4);
-
neuroprotection: it supports the energy metabolism of neurons and slows down deleterious processes such as inflammation or the aggregation of toxic proteins (tau and beta-amyloid), thereby helping to preserve cognitive functions and limit the progression of neurodegenerative disorders (5-9).
The beneficial effects suggested by these studies were obtained at fairly low doses (from 30 mg per day), with high doses potentially leading to undesirable effects.
3 key advantages of our pharmaceutical-grade methylene blue
Methylene Blue has 3 key advantages:
-
A reference solution, USP pharmaceutical quality: our methylene blue is available in a 1% solution that complies with USP (United States Pharmacopeia) standards, which guarantees rigorous pharmaceutical quality and a perfectly controlled concentration.
-
Impeccable purity: this product undergoes strict purity tests to guarantee safe, reliable use. In particular, it is free from formaldehyde and heavy metals.
-
A bottle with a dropper, for simple, precise dosing: the product is easy to use thanks to its dropper, designed to deliver 0.5 mg of methylene blue per drop. Methylene Blue ensures optimum precision and helps prevent overdosing.
