What is green propolis used for?

With all the above-mentioned therapeutic properties, propolis is thus an effective natural aid in many situations. It is used for:

  • Increasing the body’s immune defences.
  • Boosting resistance to aggressors, free radicals and germs.
  • Fighting infection of all kinds and inflammatory reactions.
  • Helping to combat ENT problems, particularly sore throat, nasopharyngitis and sinusitis.
  • Enhancing the effects of commonly prescribed anti-fungal treatments and antibiotics.
What is chaga composed of?

Recent chemical tests have shown that chaga contains more than 200 types of active substance (8). The most significant of these are the beta-glucan polysaccharides which are responsible for most of the mushroom’s blood sugar-lowering, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects (9-10), as well as its benefits for the immune system.

Our Organic Chaga Extract supplement contains a high level of these polysaccharides due to the water extraction used to obtain the chaga sporophores. This method of extraction also enables the following compounds to be preserved:

  • Melanin, a remarkable antioxidant which also has blood sugar-lowering properties (11).
  • Hispidin, which has beneficial effects against abnormal cells.
  • Betulinic acid, another anti-proliferative compound. This is the characteristic white powdery substance you see on the bark of birch trees which chaga tends to accumulate.
Why choose green propolis supplements over raw or chewable pieces?
  1. Propolis has an acrid, bitter taste and can cause an unpleasant burning sensation when it is chewed.
  2. The lyophilised form of propolis (found in capsules) preserves its properties almost indefinitely, which is not the case with the standard preservation of fresh propolis. You therefore don’t have to worry about how to use or take it.
  3. All the above-mentioned therapeutic properties depend on the quality of standardisation (the main reference in this respect is undoubtedly the work of Professor Volpi of the University of Modena [volpi@unimo.it]), as well as collecting the selected species. Commercially available propolis in its raw form is not always of high quality.

With rigorously checked botanical sources, and standardised extracts supported by conclusive, clinical trials, green propolis constitutes an essential, natural product offering multiple synergistic ingredients which should be considered a high priority supplement. Using propolis to maintain and improve your health has never been easier than with green propolis. Concentrated and free from all impurities, this is the wonder bee product – the beehive’s secret to good health.

What additional measures can be combined with chaga supplementation?

To benefit from chaga’s tonic effects, Siberian nomads would remove part of the mushroom from the birch and add it to hot water to make a tea. But with SuperSmart’s Organic Chaga Extract, standardised in polysaccharides for maximum effect, you can simply swallow a capsule instead.

In addition, we recommend you take the following three steps throughout the supplementation period:

  1. Increase your level of physical activity (even if it’s only slightly) and exercise regularly (12-13).
  2. Ensure you get enough sleep (at least 7 hours a night in general).
  3. Take a quality multivitamin such as Daily 3® to prevent what is in fact widespread deficiency in micronutrients. The quality of your immune response will be affected by a lack of even one of these micronutrients: zinc, selenium, iron, copper, calcium, folic acid, vitamin A, vitamin B6, vitamin C and vitamin E.

If your immune system is seriously compromised, you could also take an extract of green propolis alongside your chaga supplement.

Attention: taking chaga is contraindicated for type 1 diabetics, those suffering from coagulation problems and those who’ve undergone a transplant.

How to choose the right green propolis?

Make sure you choose your green propolis carefully in order to obtain maximum benefit from this Brazilian natural treasure.

Most of the products on the market are in powdered form and are not standardised in active ingredients, significantly reducing their effects.

Focus on extracts standardised in phenolic acids and artepillin C, a guarantee of the green propolis’ authenticity and efficacy. This is the case with our Green Propolis supplement.
